Magnetic Distance Measuring SystemsA sensor moves in proximity to a magnetic tape to produce a digital signal. This signal is then processed to relate to position along the tape. This non-contact technology provides a maintenance free solution to most linear or angular, absolute or incremental position measurement.
Available in:
Incremental VersionProvides direct linear and rotary position feedback normally with reference to a datum on the axis. The rotary version offers an alternative to optical encoders where on shaft mounting without maintenance or high environmental I P rating may be required.
Available with:
• Resolution to from 10 to 0.001 mm
• Digital Outputs either Push Pull or TTL
• Lengths upto 160 metres possible
• To IP67 Protection
• Operating Speeds upto 25 metres per second
• Low Cost Low Resolution Versions
And
Absolute VersionThe first absolute magnetic linear encoder available using non contact digital technology. A magnetic sensor passes along the magnetic tape to produce 20 million unique digital steps across its travel. This information is processed and can be then transmitted by parallel. SSI, Interbus-S, Profibus or CAN Bus. Suits arduous industrial applications with forces in excess of 30G allowed and protected to IP67.

Available with:
• Resolution to from 1 mm to 0.01 mm
• Lengths upto 163 metres
• Accuracy to 0.01 mm
• Upto IP67 Protection as Standard and is therefore unaffected by dust, dirt or fluid ingress
Optical Linear EncodersElap
Transform mechanical linear motion into corresponding electrical signals. Based upon an optical reading system to ensure high resolutions. A cost effective alternative to rack and pinion encoder systems being easier to mount and much less expensive.
Available with:
• Measuring ranges from 60 to 990 mm
• Upto IP65 environmental operation
• Resolution range from 0.05 to 0.005 mm
LasersLinear distances upto 100 metres can be measured using this non contact optical, maintenance free sensor. The signal is absolute and therefore requires no reference should movement take place with the power off.
Available with:
• Resolution to 1 mm
• SSI or Profibus Output
• High Speed position signal to 1000 Data values per second
